Your device can already remove backgrounds. When is Cuthouse better?

Good news: you may not need Cuthouse at all. iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Windows 11 and Mac all have a free background remover built in. Here is where each one is, and when Cuthouse does the job better.

Already on your device

  • iPhone: touch and hold the subject in Photos to lift it. In Files, Quick Actions → Remove Background works on several images at once. On iOS 26, Preview → Remove Background.
  • Samsung Galaxy: open the photo in Gallery, touch and hold the subject to cut it out, then save it.
  • Windows 11: in Paint, Remove background. In Photos, Edit → Background lets you remove it, replace it, or blur it, with a brush to fix the selection.
  • Mac: in Finder, right-click → Quick Actions → Remove Background (works on several files at once).

Use Cuthouse when…

  • you’re on a device without one of these: a Chromebook, Linux, Windows 10, many Android phones, or a work or school computer where you can’t install anything;
  • the edge needs fixing: use the Erase and Restore brushes;
  • you want the subject on white, any colour or a blurred version of the original, cropped to the subject, all in one place;
  • you need WebP as well as PNG or JPG;
  • you want the same simple tool on every device, with no account and no watermark.

Where the built-in tool is better

It is already there and it is fast. On iPhone and Mac it handles many files at once for free, and on Windows 11 the Photos app already blurs or replaces the background. If you have one of these and the result looks good, use it.

Where Cuthouse is better

The same tool works on every device with a modern browser, including ones without a built-in remover. It puts the cut-out, a white, coloured or blurred background, edge brushes and crop-to-subject in one place, and downloads full size with no watermark and no account.

Questions

Is Cuthouse more private than the built-in tools?

No. The built-in tools also work on your device. Cuthouse’s advantage is that it works the same everywhere and gives you backgrounds, brushes and crop in one place.

Can Cuthouse do a whole folder?

Not yet. Batch with a ZIP download is planned for Cuthouse Studio · Pro, a one-time purchase that is coming soon. Today Cuthouse does one photo at a time, free and without a limit.

Does Cuthouse add a watermark?

No. Full size, no watermark, no account.
